HMS Gannet Chatham 40x50

Kevin Clarkson’s work is landscape and representational in the traditional sense: capturing mood, light and texture. major themes include coastal scenes where the effects of light modify the elemental forces of sea sky and land.

A fascination with history combined with Kevin’s schoolboy enthusiasm for machines which fly or float has been an inspiration for a series of aviation and maritime work. His attention to detail both of the machine and of the elements are achieved by hours of direct observation and rigorous historical research.

Kevin Clarkson is currently Vice Chairman of the National Maritime Museum Art Club. His first one-man show was held at the Ignition Gallery in the Historic Dockyard Chatham in 2011. He was featured as the on-line ‘Gallery Artist of the Month’ (November) in the Artist Magazine in 2012.

Come and meet Kevin who will be present in the gallery to talk about his work on the 2 November from 2-4pm
